Biography

James received his PhD from the University of Western Australia in 2004 and has been working as a 50/50 teaching researcher since 2005. He co-developed and currently co-chairs the 'Psychology Active, Healthy Living' (PAHL) group at the School of Human Sciences. His research primarily focuses on the use of psychological theory to advance understanding of health behavior and develop sustainable, effective health promotion interventions. Over the years, he has taken on various editorial roles, including Guest Editor for Nutrients and Associate Editor for multiple journals in sports science. His research interests include exercise psychology, mental health, social support, and motivation psychology, with involvement in community health programs such as the Mummy Buddy Program and the Man v Fat soccer initiative. James has secured AU$3 million in research funding from several prominent agencies and is actively involved in numerous research projects aimed at improving health outcomes in various communities.
