Dr. James Duncan

Biography

James S. Duncan is a Professor at Yale University specializing in Biomedical Engineering. He also holds additional appointments in the Departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Radiology & Biomedical Imaging. His research focuses on biomedical image processing and analysis, particularly using quantitative strategies based on geometrical and physical models for statistical decision making. Duncan's work has practical applications in the analysis of left ventricular (LV) cardiac function, as well as in neuro-structure/function interactions and image-guided interventions. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field, being named an IEEE Fellow in 2001 and inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering in 2000. Duncan's selected publications include influential research on topics such as 3D image segmentation and estimating tissue deformation in functional imaging.
