Biography

James Elder is a professor at the Lassonde School of Engineering and a member of the Centre for Vision Research at York University. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, received in 1996. His research interests focus on the development of novel and useful computer vision algorithms and machine vision systems, as well as the understanding of visual processing in biological systems. Over the years, Professor Elder has received numerous awards and honors, including the Premier’s Research Excellence Award and the Young Investigator Award from the Canadian Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Society.
