James Elder is a professor at the Lassonde School of Engineering and holds a joint appointment with the Faculty of Health at York University. He is recognized for his contributions to the field of computer vision and has been awarded the Premier’s Research Excellence Award as well as the Young Investigator Award from the Canadian Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Society. Dr. Elder completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering at McGill University in 1996. His research focuses on the development of novel and useful computer vision algorithms and machine vision systems, as well as a deeper understanding of visual processing in biological systems. He is a member of the Centre for Vision Research and actively contributes to advancing the field through both teaching and research.
