Biography

James Anthony Fanto is the Florence Rogatz Visiting Professor at Yale Law School and a Gerald Baylin Professor at Brooklyn Law School, where he co-directs the Center for the Study of Business Law and Regulation. He teaches in Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business on compliance for the FINRA Institute Certified Regulatory Compliance Professional (CRCP) program. Fanto has extensive expertise in banking, compliance, corporations, securities law, and corporate finance. His publication record includes significant works such as 'Broker-Dealer Compliance: Case-Based Guide Compliance Program Elements Practices' and 'Understanding Corporate Law', along with many articles in the field. He co-founded the journal 'Corporate Financial Law: Interdisciplinary Approaches' and serves as an associate reporter for the American Law Institute’s Principles of Law: Compliance and Enforcement for Organizations. Before his academic career, he practiced law in Washington, D.C., Paris, and New York, and clerked for Justice Harry Blackmun of the U.S. Supreme Court.
