Dr. James Fletcher

Biography

James Bowman Fletcher is a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Monash University, where he practices as an architect and serves as the editor for Memo Review Architecture. His research interests focus on the intersection of architecture and art, as well as the written aspects of architecture. He has published works both locally and internationally, including recent projects titled House House [I] and House House [II]. Fletcher is the current Coordinator and Chief Examiner of the Foundation Studio 2 unit within his department. In 2023, he was awarded the Early Career Researcher Grant by Monash University’s Office of the Provost for fieldwork and archival research at the Judd Foundation and Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. His upcoming exhibition, Five Architectural Case Studies of Chinati Foundation, will also showcase his contributions to the field. Additionally, James has participated in numerous public lectures, community talks, and has a significant editorial responsibility in architecture-related publications, highlighting his active engagement in both academic and community-oriented discussions. He has a history of collaborating with various contributors and institutions to enhance architectural pedagogy and practice.
