Dr. James Freeman

Biography

James V. Freeman, MD, MPH, MS, is a cardiologist specializing in cardiac arrhythmias. He is known nationally for his expertise in performing specialized arrhythmia procedures including the ablation of complex arrhythmias such as supraventricular tachycardias, atrial fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia. He also focuses on left atrial appendage occlusion and the placement of implantable cardiac devices such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). Dr. Freeman serves as the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Yale New Haven Health and directs the Yale Atrial Fibrillation Program. He holds a Master of Public Health degree with concentrations in biostatistics and epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Science degree in health services research from Stanford. His research includes extensive studies on comparative effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and clinical outcomes related to cardiac arrhythmias. Dr. Freeman has been a lead researcher in projects funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American College of Cardiology aimed at evaluating therapies for the prevention and treatment of atrial fibrillation and other cardiac conditions.
