Dr. James Giles

Biography

James Giles is a vascular neurologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine. He completed his medical and doctoral degrees at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, earning his PhD in neuroscience in 2012. In 2014, he moved to the United States to undertake his neurology residency and stroke fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine. Following this, he participated in a clinical research fellowship at Oxford University in 2020. Since joining Yale in 2022, Dr. Giles has continued to focus on the care of patients suffering from cerebrovascular diseases, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. His research interests are aimed at advancing stroke treatment and prevention, with a particular emphasis on translating scientific discoveries into clinical practice. He is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association to conduct relevant research in the field.
