Biography

Jim Greiner is the Honorable S. William Green Professor at Harvard Law School and the Faculty Director of the Access Justice Lab. He teaches courses in civil procedure, expert witnesses, and access to justice. Greiner completed his Ph.D. in statistics at Harvard University in 2007. Prior to his academic career, he practiced law for six years at the Department of Justice in the Federal Programs Branch and at Jenner & Block, LLC, with a focus on employment discrimination, voting rights, and housing desegregation cases. His research primarily involves the implementation of randomized field experiments aimed at improving access to legal services for individuals and families who cannot afford to hire lawyers. The Access Justice Lab is dedicated to conducting randomized control trials within the legal profession to evaluate the effectiveness of various interventions and services.
