Dr. James Guthrie

Biography

James Guthrie is a Professor at Macquarie University in the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance. He has held positions in both Australian and Italian universities and has over 35 years of experience in accounting education. Guthrie served as the editor of the highly regarded interdisciplinary accounting journal, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal. From 2008 to 2017, he was the Head of Academic Relations at Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand, where he engaged with accounting academics and stakeholders in the Australian and New Zealand higher education systems, providing thought leadership for the broader accounting profession. His research focuses on the intersection of accounting, business processes, measurement, and innovation within Australian organizations. He is actively involved in various projects and has a significant h-index while contributing to several collaborative research efforts in the field of accounting.
