Dr. James Herbert

Biography

James Taylor Herbert is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University, specializing in critical care medicine and anesthesiology. He is a full-time clinician practicing critical care medicine with primary clinical sites at Duke University Hospital's Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Perioperative Services, as well as at Duke Regional Hospital’s Critical Care Unit. Alongside his clinical duties, Dr. Herbert is heavily involved in clinical trials focusing on airway management, sepsis, and lung injury. His commitment to medical education is evident as he plays an active role in training medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Herbert completed his Critical Care Medicine Fellowship, Anesthesia Residency, and earned both his M.D. and Ph.D. at Duke University, showcasing his dedication and expertise in the field.
