Biography

James Lee is an internationally recognized endocrine surgeon specializing in the care of patients with thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal disorders. He serves as the Chief of Endocrine Surgery and is the Edwin K. and Anne C. Weisskopf Professor of Surgical Oncology at Columbia University. Additionally, he is the physician director of the Endocrine Service Line at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and co-director of several multidisciplinary centers focusing on thyroid and adrenal surgery. Dr. Lee completed his medical degree at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons and further trained in General Surgery before completing a fellowship in Endocrine Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Actively involved in leadership roles on both national and international levels, he is a member of the Executive Council of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and has contributed to the foundation of educational programs in the field. He has authored over 100 articles and book chapters, co-edited a key textbook, and has given numerous invited lectures worldwide. His extensive experience in minimally invasive surgical techniques has made him one of the highest volume endocrine surgeons in America, earning him recognition in New York Magazine’s Top Doctors lists. Dr. Lee is also focused on the education of future surgeons and is committed to advancing surgical practices through mentorship and innovative teaching methods.
