Biography

James Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education at The University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on capacity building for marginalized families of young autistic children, leveraging implementation science and cultural adaptation in intervention development. Before joining UT Austin, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the University of Washington. His active research includes developing and testing an implementation toolkit to enhance evidence-based practice delivery to marginalized families, and exploring the support needs of diverse families with minimally verbal autistic children. Lee has also worked on culturally adapting the World Health Organization-Caregiver Skills Training program for low- and middle-income countries, among other projects. He received his Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and has held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Juniper Gardens Children's Project at the University of Kansas. Lee's work is funded by various organizations, including the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences and the National Institutes of Health.
