Biography

James P. McCormack received his undergraduate degree in pharmacy from the University of British Columbia in 1982 and completed a hospital pharmacy residency program at Lion's Gate Hospital in North Vancouver in 1984. He obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1986. With extensive experience both locally and internationally, he specializes in educating health professionals and consumers about the rational use of medication. Over his 25-year career, he has presented around 400 seminars on drug therapy, emphasizing shared-informed decision-making through evidence-based information and rational therapeutic principles. Dr. McCormack has published over 100 articles primarily focusing on rational drug therapy and has contributed as an editor for internationally recognized textbooks in this field. He is also a co-host of the popular weekly podcast, Science (BS) Medicine, available in the iTunes store. His research interests include knowledge translation and critical appraisal.
