Biography

Professor McKeown is a Professor Emeritus at the Smeal College of Business, having previously held the title of Mary Jean Frank P. Smeal Chaired Professor in Accounting. His academic career includes being a Distinguished Professor and Ernst & Young Professor in Accounting at Penn State. Professor McKeown has also taught at the University of Illinois, where he held the Weldon Powell Professorship and A.C. Littleton Professorship. He has received multiple awards, including the American Accounting Association's 2003 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award and the 1998 Graduate Faculty Teaching Award at Penn State. He is a member of several professional associations, including the American Accounting Association and the Decision Sciences Institute. Professor McKeown serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Quantitative Finance and Accounting and has contributed to various academic journals as an ad hoc reviewer. His research interests focus on accounting theory, economic effects of taxation, governmental and non-profit accounting, and the effects of accounting in forecasting. He played a key role in developing and implementing a four-course management information systems concentration in accounting for business administration.
