Dr. James Newman

Biography

James Newman, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the fields of Medical Oncology and Hematology at Yale School of Medicine. He specializes in the care of patients with non-malignant hematology disorders and thoracic cancers, including lung and chest area cancers. Dr. Newman has a robust clinical background, having joined Yale from NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, where he focused on hematology and thoracic oncology. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University and completed his residency at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Following his residency, he pursued a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Northwell Health Cancer Institute, where he served as chief fellow. His research has centered on tumor mutational burden and its correlation with patient response to immunotherapy, and he has led multiple research projects yielding publications in reputable journals such as Lung Cancer Management and Cancer Medicine.
