Biography

James F. Phillips is a Professor Emeritus at the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. He has dedicated over fifty years to research in developing evidence-based primary health care programs in Africa. Phillips has significantly contributed to implementation science initiatives across East and South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, authoring 232 peer-reviewed publications. Phillips has collaborated in several international research networks and has been a visiting lecturer in Switzerland, Australia, and Ghana. He holds degrees from the University of Michigan and the University of Hawaii, including a PhD in 1980. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades for his contributions to health services and mentoring students in public health research.
