Biography

Jim Speta has been a faculty member at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law since 1999. He is an experienced academic leader serving as Co-President of the Law Schools Global League, a consortium of 32 globally-minded law schools. At Northwestern Law, he has held positions such as Interim Dean during the pandemic, Vice Dean, and Senior Associate Dean for International Initiatives and Curriculum. His leadership includes overseeing significant Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and curricular reforms as well as establishing new international joint degree programs. Jim's research interests span telecommunications and internet policy, antitrust, administrative law, and market organization. He has published several legal academic articles addressing issues such as net neutrality and market regulation in the context of the metaverse. He teaches courses in Administrative Law, Antitrust, Telecommunications, and Internet Policy. Jim graduated in 1991 from the University of Michigan Law School and has prior experience clerking for Judge Harry T. Edwards in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and practicing law at Sidley & Austin in Chicago.
