Dr. James Van Cleve

Biography

James Van Cleve is a Professor at USC Dornsife whose research primarily focuses on Epistemology, Metaphysics, and Early Modern Philosophy. His interests include perception in Epistemology, spatial and temporal topics in Metaphysics, and the historical evolution of Modern Philosophy with a particular emphasis on the works of Thomas Reid. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Iowa, an M.A., and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Rochester. Van Cleve's scholarly work has significantly contributed to the understanding of foundational issues in these areas, and he continues to engage with complex philosophical questions related to human understanding and the nature of reality.
