Dr. James Watterson

Biography

James Watterson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Ottawa and holds a cross-appointment with the Department of Pediatrics. He is a Clinician Investigator in the Clinical Epidemiology Program. He received his MD from Queen's University in 1995, followed by a Urology Residency at the University of Ottawa in 2000. He completed his fellowship training in Endourology and Shock Wave Lithotripsy at the University of Western Ontario in 2002. His research focuses on Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery, particularly Laparoscopic Surgery, Endourological Surgery, and Kidney Stone Disease. He engages in transformative research that enhances surgical techniques and patient outcomes in urology, striving to contribute to advancements that improve the quality of life for patients. He is actively involved in educating medical students and residents in both surgical techniques and clinical practices in urology, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based methodologies in medical education.
