Dr. James Weber

Biography

James E. Weber is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School. Recognized as an internationally renowned authority on the cardiac effects of cocaine abuse, he has authored over 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and textbook chapters. His notable research findings have been published in prestigious journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and Circulation. Dr. Weber has served as Chief Research Officer at Hurley Medical Center and has chaired various steering committees for national and international scientific assemblies. He is also a manuscript editor and editorial consultant for several scientific journals in cardiology and emergency medicine. Dr. Weber has received substantial extramural funding from various agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health. He has won numerous teaching and research awards, including the Top Consultant award from the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Golden Apple Teaching Award at the University of Michigan. In addition to his academic achievements, he has worked closely with the Department of Defense to train combat medics and served as a medical consultant for the Ultimate Fighting Championships. Dr. Weber's contributions extend to recreational activities as a professional ski instructor at Vail Resorts, working with adaptive skiers.
