Dr. James Weinstein

Biography

James Weinstein is an Adjunct Professor at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He has a prominent background in healthcare leadership, having served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, where he oversaw a $2.5 billion system that served a patient population of 2 million across New Hampshire and Vermont. Weinstein's career includes significant contributions to telemedicine and population health, notably as a former Senior Vice President of Microsoft Healthcare, where he played a vital role in vaccine distribution efforts during the pandemic. He is recognized as an internationally renowned spine surgeon and has developed a classification system for treating spinal cancers. His work has resulted in over 330 peer-reviewed publications and more than $70 million in federal funding. Beyond clinical practice, Weinstein has established the Center for Shared Decision-Making, which has set benchmarks in patient-centered care across the United States and internationally. He has received numerous accolades for his contributions to health equity and healthcare innovation, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the AHA’s Justin Ford Kimball Innovator’s Award.
