Biography

Jamie Budnick is a sociologist specializing in gender, sexuality, and feminist science studies. Joining Cornell after serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Population Studies Center of the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research, he earned his PhD in Sociology from the University of Michigan in 2020. His scholarly work includes earning Graduate Certificates in Science, Technology, Society (STS) and in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Studies. Budnick studies the social construction of sexual knowledge, particularly focusing on knowledge produced through demography and population measurement. He is currently writing a book titled 'New Gay Science: Demography Shaped Sexuality Knowledge in LGBTQ Politics,' which explores the social lives of sexuality statistics. His peer-reviewed research has been published in several academic journals, including the American Sociological Review, Contexts, Demography, Gender & Society, and Sexualities.
