Dr. Jamie Jones

Biography

Jamie N. Jones serves as the Director of Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship and is an Associate Professor of Practice in Management at the Fuqua School of Business. With a robust background in promoting entrepreneurship, Jones previously held the position of Executive Director of the Fuqua Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, where notable initiatives were launched to assist marginalized communities, including the FoundHER pitch competition for Black founders. Jones teaches various courses focused on new venture formation and execution. A recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2021, Jones is recognized for their engaging teaching methods. Prior to their tenure at Duke, Jones served as the Executive Director of the Liu Idea Lab for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Rice University, where they developed both curricular and co-curricular programs for students and faculty. They co-founded an investment firm, Impact Engine, aimed at aligning financial returns with positive social and environmental impacts. Additionally, Jones has experience as an Innovation Advisor at RTI International, where they worked at the intersection of technology and market needs. Their extensive international experience in agriculture, education, and health has further solidified their expertise in social entrepreneurship and business model optimization.
