Jamie Mcdonald is a Research Associate in Particle Theory at the University of Manchester. His research lies at the intersection of particle physics, cosmology, and astrophysics, focusing on astroparticle probes of fundamental physics, superradiance, neutron stars, and axion/ALP dark matter. Mcdonald has actively worked on high-frequency gravitational waves and is particularly interested in tabletop experiments to detect gravitational waves related to axions. He is involved in various experimental proposals through the Photon Science Institute and the Particle Physics group at the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics. In his role, he serves as the Theme Lead for Quantum Technologies in Fundamental Physics within the newly established Centre for Quantum Science and Engineering at the University of Manchester.
