Biography

Jamie Walker joined the University of Washington faculty in 1989 and was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award in 2008. He served as the Associate Director of the School of Art starting in 2011 and continued as the Director from 2014 to 2024. His work has been showcased in 24 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions throughout the United States, with collections housing his artwork including the Washington State Arts Commission, Seattle Art Museum, and the Henry Art Gallery. Reviews of his work have appeared in various reputable magazines such as Ceramics: Art & Perception, Sculpture, and American Ceramics. Walker received the Flintridge Foundation Artist Grant in 2005 and completed a significant three-piece outdoor commission for Vulcan Inc. in 2010, located at the Amazon headquarters in Seattle. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington.
