Biography

Jamila Stockman is an Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health, Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. She is the Director of the Disparities Core at UC San Diego’s Center for AIDS Research. Dr. Stockman has a PhD in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and an MPH from the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. Her research career is dedicated to improving the lives of women, particularly addressing their experiences with intimate partner and sexual violence. With her training in epidemiology, her research focuses on the intersecting epidemics of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, HIV acquisition and transmission, as well as substance abuse among marginalized populations. Her areas of expertise include alcohol, tobacco, drugs epidemiology, HIV/AIDS, injury control, and emergency health services.
