Professor Jan-Willem G. van de Kuilen holds a Professorship in Wood Technology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he studies the mechanics of wood and its applications in timber construction. Since 2009, he has held a dual appointment at TUM and TU Delft, where he provides part-time instruction on timber structures in wood technology. He has received several awards, including the Dutch Building Prize in 2005 and the Houtinnovatieprijs (2nd Place) in 2003.
