Dr. Jan Breckenridge

Biography

Jan Breckenridge is a distinguished professor and head of the School of Social Sciences at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where she also co-convenes the UNSW Gendered Violence Research Network. Her work primarily focuses on gendered violence, including domestic and family violence, sexual violence, and economic abuse. She has led various significant research projects aimed at establishing evidence-based policies and practices related to violence prevention and intervention. Jan has collaborated with numerous organizations, both public and private, to provide expert guidance and develop innovative training programs to enhance responses to domestic violence. Her research emphasizes the importance of integrating academic knowledge with practical applications to foster meaningful organizational responses and improve service delivery for victims of violence.
