Biography

Jan Schans Christensen has a background as a practicing lawyer and was a partner at Bech-Bruun & Trolle, as well as having worked at the law firm Debevoise & Plimpton in New York. From 2001 to 2012, he was a professor of corporate law at the University of Copenhagen, where he has authored books and articles on company law and other business law topics in both Danish and international contexts. In 2012, he was appointed as a judge at the Supreme Court. Since 2021, he has been affiliated with the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen as an adjunct professor. His teaching includes courses on Capital Companies and International Company Law, and he supervises master's and Ph.D. students in related legal areas. He has received the award for Teacher of the Year in 2005, recognizing his contributions to legal education and scholarship.
