Professor Dr. Jan Kopyscinski

Biography

Jan Kopyscinski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at McGill University. He specializes in Chemical Engineering with a focus on Catalytic and Plasma Process Engineering. He holds a Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering from ETH Zurich, awarded in 2010, and a Diplom-Ingenieur in Environmental Science from Brandenburg University of Technology, completed in 2005. His current research interests include heterogeneous catalysis, plasma catalysis, and reactor design, particularly optical accessible catalytic plate reactors and micro-channel reactors. He is engaged in understanding reaction mechanisms, kinetic parameter estimation, and model discrimination, aiming to design energy-efficient processes related to syngas conversion, methane conversion, and hydrogenation. Professor Kopyscinski also teaches courses such as Chemical Engineering Principles, Chemical Reaction Engineering, and Environmental Research Projects, guiding students in both theoretical knowledge and practical application in various chemical engineering domains.
