Biography

Jan Kronqvist is an Associate Professor at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in the Department of Mathematics, specializing in optimization and systems theory. He joined KTH as an Assistant Professor in 2021 after completing a two-year Postdoctoral fellowship at Imperial College London as a Newton International Fellow. His experience includes roles as a university teacher in Process Systems Engineering at Åbo Akademi from 2017 to 2019. Jan's research primarily focuses on mixed-integer optimization, including the development of algorithms and software to solve mixed-integer optimization problems. He is the developer of SHOT, an award-winning mixed-integer solver recognized as the fastest convex MINLP solver based on extensive benchmarks. Jan actively collaborates with PhD and Postdoc researchers in the field, organizing events such as the Stockholm Optimization Days and the Stockholm Global Optimization Workshop.
