Biography

Jan Østergaard received his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark in 1999 and a PhD in Electrical Engineering with cum laude from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands in 2007. He has worked as an R&D Engineer at ETI A/S and ETI Inc. in the USA, and served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Jan is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Electronic Systems at Aalborg University, where he heads the Acoustic Signal Processing Research Centre and the AI Sound section. His research interests include Information Theory, Signal Processing, AI Sound, acoustic signal processing, causality feedback systems, EEG signal processing, and statistical signal processing. Jan has received several awards, including the Danish Independent Research Council's Young Researcher's Award and the PhD Thesis Award from the European Association for Signal Processing. He is involved in various projects, serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, and is a board member of the Danish Sound Cluster.
