Biography

Jan Svensson received his Ph.D. degree from Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden in 1998. From 1998 to 2002, he served as an Assistant Professor in Power Electronics at Chalmers, earning his D.Sc. degree (Docent) in 2002. He began working with ABB Sweden in 2009, where he has been involved in research and development related to high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) energy storage, with a special focus on the design and control of Voltage Source Converter-based grid-connected devices. From 2009 to 2014, he was the Program Manager for the global R&D program "Active Grid Infrastructure" at ABB Corporate Research. Currently, he is a Senior Principal Scientist in Power Electronics Systems at ABB Corporate Research. His research interests include the design and control of power electronics and power systems, as well as power quality, storage technologies, and renewable energy.
