Biography

Jan van Dijk is an Associate Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology, specializing in the field of Elementary Processes and Gas Discharges. His research interests encompass modeling electromagnetic fields, transport phenomena, and object-oriented code design, employing modern C++ idioms and expression templates to solve coupled linearized systems of equations. He has worked on various projects, including modeling non-thermal biomedical plasma sources and microwave plasma sources for the production of optical fibers. Jan van Dijk holds a Master of Science degree obtained in 1996 and a Ph.D. awarded in 2001, both in Applied Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology. Before his current position, he was a postdoc in the Elementary Processes Gas Discharges group at TU/e and had research experiences at the University of Illinois in the USA and Keio University in Japan. In 2003, he returned to TU/e EPG and received an NWO VENI grant.
