Biography

Jan Völkel has held various teaching and research positions across several esteemed institutions, including the University of Freiburg, University of Salzburg, European University Institute in Florence, Cairo University, and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He has also been a visiting researcher at Université de Montréal, Dundee University, Bahçesehir University in Istanbul, and Southern Denmark University in Odense. Völkel is a recipient of the prestigious Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship for his contributions to an European Union research project assessing 'Parliaments in Arab Transformation Processes.' He has also received scholarships and stipends from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and has served as a member of DAAD selection committees. In 2008, he was appointed as the MENA Regional Coordinator for the Bertelsmann Transformation Index (BTI).
