Jana La Brasca is a researcher and writer, currently a PhD candidate in Art History specializing in modern contemporary art. Her dissertation focuses on the sculptures, drawings, and conceptual projects of Alice Aycock, created between 1968 and 1986. She has worked as a curatorial researcher for the exhibition "Groundswell: Women Land Art" at the Nasher Sculpture Center. In addition, La Brasca has held a Mellon curatorial fellowship at the Blanton Museum of Art, where she co-organized the exhibition "Limits: Helen Frankenthaler, Abstraction Language Print," and contributed to "Michelangelo, Past Picasso: Leo Steinberg’s Library of Prints." Prior to her doctoral studies, she was involved in catalogue raisonné research at the Judd Foundation in Marfa, Texas, as well as in New York. Her work has been presented in programs organized by the Marfa Book Company, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Henry Moore Institute, Contemporary Austin, Landmarks, Nasher Sculpture Center, and various art galleries focusing on Black Studies and Women’s Work. Her research has been further supported by the PEO Scholar Award and predoctoral fellowships at the Menil Drawing Institute and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
