Biography

Janaka graduated with distinction in medicine from the University of London and was awarded the UK Medical Research Council Clinical Research Training Fellowship, leading to a PhD for research on the pathophysiology and treatment of cardiovascular disease and renal disease in diabetes. He is an active clinician with over 20 years of specialized experience in managing patients with kidney and cardiovascular complications related to diabetes at Guy’s St Thomas Hospital. He has published more than 100 articles related to cardio-renal disease and has led or co-chaired several guidelines on diabetic kidney disease. Janaka lectures and supervises research projects at various academic levels, contributing to numerous undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs.
