Biography

Jane Alexander is a novelist and short story writer, with works such as the novel 'Treasure Hunt' (Saraband, 2015), selected as Waterstones debut of the year, and 'User's Guide to Make-Believe' (Allison & Busby), published in January 2020. She also has a short story collection and accompanying essay titled 'Flicker Light Writing Contemporary Uncanny', published by Luna Academia in 2021. Her short fiction has won various prizes and she has been widely published. As a recipient of the Scottish Arts Council New Writers Bursary and a research award from Creative Scotland in 2016, she was also awarded the Hawthornden International Writing Retreat Fellowship. Jane joined the University of Edinburgh's department in 2017 and completed a creative writing PhD on contemporary uncanny fiction, funded by Northumbria University, in 2018. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
