Biography

Jane Ammons is Professor Emerita in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. She previously served as the H. Milton Carolyn J. Stewart School Chair from 2011 to 2014. Her areas of expertise include supply chain engineering and a special interest in developing closed loop, environmentally sustainable systems. Ammons has published numerous scholarly articles and book chapters, contributing to the field of industrial engineering and applied optimization. She has received several research awards and served as President of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). Further, she has been a member of the Technical Committee for Uganda's Millennium Science Initiative (MSI), co-financed by the World Bank, and serves as a Program Evaluator for ABET, an engineering education accreditation organization. Ammons has provided both national and international leadership through various boards and advisory panels, including chairing the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering Advisory Committee. She received her Ph.D. in Industrial Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, adding both academic and practical insights to her teaching. Throughout her career, Ammons has been committed to advancing the careers of women in engineering and has received recognition through several teaching and faculty awards at both school and university levels.
