Biography

Jane's main research interests include chronic health conditions in the older population, applying complex analytical techniques to explore survey data, stemming from her mathematical background. Her projects have utilized data from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA), Health Survey England (HSE), and PRO-AGE (PRevention Older people - Assessment GEneralists' practices). Recent funded research collaborations have focused on the domestic use and integration of technological advances to support health and healthcare needs in aging populations. Jane was awarded a PhD scholarship from the Institute of Cancer Research: Royal Cancer Hospital, which led to her development of mathematical models related to the natural history of colon rectal adenocarcinoma to predict the effect of screening strategies. She obtained her PhD degree from the Institute of Cancer Research in 1998 and currently serves as the Chair of the Board Examiners for the BSc/MSci Population Health Sciences programmes at the Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care (IEHC).
