Dr. Jane Davis

Biography

Jane Davis is an Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream at the University of Toronto, specializing in Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. She is a registered occupational therapist with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy in the United States. Professor Davis completed her BSc in Psychology at McGill University and her BScOT and MSc at the University of Western Ontario. She has received five departmental awards and holds Certificates of Appreciation from the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Davis has contributed significantly to literature as a co-editor and co-author of educational resources such as 'Enabling Occupation II'. She served as Associate Editor and Executive Editor for the Canadian Journal of Occupational Therapy from 2011 to 2019. Her research interests include mental health, substance use disorder, and the role of occupation in therapeutic practices. She has a strong focus on understanding occupational engagement and has engaged in research that explores the nuances of occupational development and repertoire. Her pedagogical scholarship emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic use of self in occupational therapy education and the role of uncertainty in skill education and practice.
