Biography

Jane C. Ginsburg is the Morton L. Janklow Professor of Literary and Artistic Property Law at Columbia Law School. A renowned authority in intellectual property law, she is a staunch defender of authors' rights. Ginsburg teaches copyright law, international copyright law, legal methods, and trademark law. She has authored or co-authored casebooks on several subjects, including 'International Copyright: U.S. EU Perspectives' and 'Copyright: Cases and Materials.' Ginsburg has held visiting professorships at numerous law schools and universities across France, Italy, Australia, England, Israel, and New Zealand. She is notably involved with the Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale, promoting and defending authors' rights on an international platform. Her accolades include being an elected member of the American Philosophical Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as receiving foreign fellow recognition from Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in Rome. Ginsburg was also honored with a Doctor honoris causa from the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, in 2020.
