Dr. Jane Metrik

Biography

Jane Metrik, Ph.D., is a Professor at Brown University in the Departments of Behavioral Social Sciences and Psychiatry Human Behavior. She holds a joint appointment as a research scientist at the Providence VA Medical Center. Dr. Metrik completed her training in the Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at the University of California, San Diego/San Diego State University, followed by a clinical psychology internship and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies (CAAS). She joined Brown's faculty in 2007 and directs an NIH-funded research program focused on cannabis behavioral pharmacology and the mechanisms influencing the etiology and maintenance of cannabis use disorder. Her research includes clinical trials examining the comorbidity of cannabis use with alcohol use and other psychiatric disorders, and she leads programs funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs on the treatment of comorbid substance use and mood disorders. Dr. Metrik serves as a mentor for postdoctoral fellows and psychology residents at the Clinical Psychology Training Consortium at Brown. Her collaborative work has contributed significantly to understanding addictive behaviors, particularly in the realm of cannabis use disorder.
