Biography

Jane Brandt Sørensen is an Associate Professor at the Global Health Section of the Department of Public Health at the University of Copenhagen. She is the head of the MSc Global Health program and has a background in Psychology, holding a Bachelor’s degree from Roskilde University, an MA in International Development from the New School in the USA, and a PhD in Global Health from the University of Copenhagen. Her research employs participatory and qualitative methods to understand practices related to intentional and unintentional poisoning, including the use of pesticides and alcohol, as well as the health care providers' roles within broader contexts of well-being and working conditions. She collaborates with numerous partners across East Africa and Asia, focusing on strengthening health professions education institutions and managing pandemic responses. She teaches qualitative methods and global mental health in her MSc course and supervises master's and PhD students in these fields.
