Biography

Janelle Iglesias is an artist working with objects and materials, exploring the physical language of space. Her work ranges from simple displays to complex constellations and often engages with the relationship between humans, capitalism, and the natural environment. In addition to her individual practice, Janelle maintains project-based collaborations with her sister, under the name Las Hermanas Iglesias, which incorporates various relationships and structures of collectivity. Her individual and collaborative works have been exhibited widely at venues such as the Queens Museum, Sculpture Center, Smack Mellon, Socrates Sculpture Park, and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, among others. Janelle has been a Fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center, participated in the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and has been involved in several residency programs such as the Headlands Center for the Arts and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. Her work has received support from organizations like the Joan Mitchell Foundation and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.
