Biography

Janet Conrad is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She specializes in neutrino physics and seeks to explore the signatures of new particles, forces, and symmetries using neutrinos across a spectrum of energy scales from MeV to PeV. She earned her B.A. from Swarthmore College in 1985, her M.Sc. from Oxford University in 1987, and her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1993. She has held a postdoctoral position at Columbia University, where she was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1996 and later became the Walter O. Lecroy Professor of Physics. Her research interests include studying the properties of neutrinos, observing expected phenomena such as neutrino oscillations, and searching for evidence of sterile neutrinos through experiments such as MicroBooNE and IceCube. Janet has received numerous accolades for her contributions to the field, including fellowships and awards from respected organizations. She is also recognized for her leadership in experimental neutrino physics, specifically through her initiatives that address significant challenges in the field.
