Biography

Janet Gardner-Medwin is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of childhood rheumatological conditions and the impact of chronic inflammatory conditions on normal childhood and adolescent development into adulthood. Gardner-Medwin's work includes studies on the characterization of E.coli species in the feces of children and young adults and the risk of developing Crohn's disease, as well as the prevalence of musculoskeletal abnormalities, particularly arthritis, in children with Down's syndrome. Additionally, she has investigated foot disease in juvenile idiopathic arthritis through randomized controlled trials, exploring intensive foot care programs and the early identification of disease progression in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA).
