Biography

Dr. Janet Lawson's research aims to improve participation experiences for persons with physical disabilities in sport and exercise using co-produced qualitative methods. She is particularly interested in parasport classification and understanding how members of the parasport community navigate unique aspects of adaptive sport. In her classroom, Lawson draws from her experience working with the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Athletics Canada to bring course content to life. Additionally, as a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer, she has worked extensively with community-based exercise programs for persons with disabilities. When not working, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, Nessie.
