Dr. Janet Martin has devoted her career to evidence synthesis and knowledge translation in health technologies within the hospital setting. Recognizing that evidence synthesis alone is inadequate for effective decision-making, she established the High Impact Technology Evaluation Centre (HiTEC) in Ontario, a hospital-based health technology assessment unit. This initiative enables hospital leadership to make informed healthcare decisions within their unique institutional contexts. Dr. Martin pioneered the Know4Go Framework, integrating evidence, economics, ethics, and other critical factors into decision-making processes. She co-founded the Medical Evidence, Decision Integrity, and Clinical Impact (MEDICI) Centre to support decision-makers in evidence-based practices. She has been a pivotal figure in health technology assessment in Canada and has received several awards for her contributions to education and public health. Additionally, Dr. Martin has played significant roles in international health initiatives, including serving as Co-Director of the Collaborating Centre for Global Surgery, Anesthesia, and Perioperative Care. Her research interests span evidence-based decision-making, contextual factors affecting decisions, hospital-based health technology assessment, and global health leadership.
